Burnham 2 - 2 Windsor

Honours even at the Gore |

An entertaining if somewhat scrappy game finished all square with both sides ending up with 10 men. Burnham with the breeze at their backs started strongly, almost went ahead in the first minute when a cross from Tom Williams deceived keeper Butler but defender Kinsler cleared from near the goal line. Blues Harry Pearse hit the top of the crossbar from 30 yards then the same player caused problems for the Windsor defence with a free kick taken just outside the penalty area. Windsor’s influential skipper Wilson then tested Burnham keeper Sam Bunting after good work down the right by Mohammed. Wilson put in a fine run which started in his own half and Bunting was forced to make an excellent stop. Burnham went ahead on 35 minutes, Pearse picked out ADAM MILLIGAN who evaded a couple of tackles before tucking the ball calmly wide of the advancing Butler. Right on the interval Windsor’s Theobald fired over when well placed and Richards brought out another fine save from Bunting. The visitors came out for the second half with more determination forcing Burnham onto the defensive and pulled the scores level on 50 minutes. A corner on the left taken by Blair was turned in at the near post by JONES. This lead lasted just one minute for at the other end Pearse delivered a free kick from the right onto the head of BEN PULSFORD to put Burnham back in front, A good build up by the home side ended with Andre Sylvan blasting over when he ought to have done better. On 65 minutes Windsor saw their numbers cut to 10 when Mohammed received a second yellow card and was dismissed, Burnham’s numerical advantage lasted just five minutes, when sub Chris Craft, who had just come on, was given a straight red for a reckless tackle. Burnham through Williams squandered a couple of good chances and Pearse again saw a shot strike the crossbar.before they started to defend too deeply allowing Windsor opportunities to get forward and in the 84th minute they tied the scores when RICHARDS was left unmarked. In the end, a case for Burnham of two points dropped rather than one gained
