The first ever meeting between the two clubs ended with St Neots Town  recording their best away win of the season and left Burnham seeking a league home win this campaign. Burnham made five changes from the side knocked out of the FA Cup by Bishops Stortford, giving debuts to Kiaran Knight and Dan Wishart, with Kevin Mealor making his first appearance since his return to the club. Both sides made a tentative start before the visitors got on top with Shane Tolley ballooning over, Stefan Moore forcing Blues keeper Jamie Jackson into a fine save. Further attempts by the Saints from Pearson Mwayango, firing wide, and Lewis Webb heading over. Burnham’s first worthwhile goal attempt came after Jordan Dowdican was stopped as he raced through, the ball fell to Ashley Smith who blasted well over. Tolley and Moore again had openings to get on the scoresheet but both efforts were wide of the mark. Burnham came more into the game as the interval approached. A Kevin Mealor free kick fell to the feet of Blues skipper Will Dunlop but his fierce shot failed to hit the target. The home team started the second half brightly with Knight putting a header over before the visitors took the lead on 55 minutes. Dunlop conceded a free kick on the Saints right, the ball was delivered to the far post where SHANE TOLLEY slipped the ball wide of Jackson. Burnham then had a good spell with Knight bringing out a great stop from Saints keeper Michael Duggan and Ashley Smith missing a good opportunity. Following a corner the ball was cleared off the goal line and the Blues were made to suffer for these misses as Saints doubled their tally on 78 minutes. Burnham failed to mark sub Junior Kanuda when a short corner was taken and his delivery was met at the far post by SHANE TOLLEY. Ashley Smith should have reduced the arrears when left with just keeper Duggan to beat he lobbed gently into the keepers hands. The third and final goal came in the last minute when the unmarked CHRIS HOPE smashed the ball into the net.
